Upcycled Vintage Window & Chalk Ink Love

Photobucket
Three houses ago...my husband and I had a 1937 bungalow. When we had the windows replaced I saved a few. For what? I wasn't sure at the time, but I knew I could come up with uses for them.

I decided this one would make a perfect kitchen nook chalkboard. I busted out the trusty chalkboard spray paint and got to work. Yup, sprayed it right on to the glass of the window! Then I discovered Chalk Ink!

Photobucket

These markers write on a multitude of surfaces and wipe off with a little water - just like chalk!
I used it on some glass containers I had for coffee, nuts and grains.

I love all the fun colors and how easy they are to clean up.

Happy creating! What are you working on this Wednesday?

Christmas in May?

It must be Christmas in May because I am on a roll with the gift making!

Photobucket

A sweet friend of mine has started taking yoga and so of course, I had to make her a yoga bag! I heart yoga so much and dream of the day when I can get there more often. Until then I am happy to create these handy bags to keep a yoga mat snug.

Photobucket

Although this friend (OK fine! It's Holly!) could make one of these herself, I still wanted her to have something special from me. She is one of the most giving and thoughtful people I know and she deserves 100 yoga bags!

When I get back from vacation I will be making some more of these yoga bags and listing them in the shop ($20). Use the email button on the side if you are interested in one and want to see some fabrics for a custom order.

Cute Little Cosmetic Case

For some time now I have been wanting to play around with a cometic case pattern. I need something sturdy and functional and -duh!- cute!

So a little bit of my Saturday was spent on this.

Photobucket
I am crazy for that burst of bright yellow fabric you see upon unzipping!

This small case could be used as a make up bag, pencil pouch or even a wristlet for on the go.

I will be listing this bag on the shop tonight!

A Peek in the Workshop

I have been busy fitting in an impromptu order for a super rad client! If she wasn't so super rad I am not sure I would be busting it so hard last minute. But I kinda really love her a ton and would bend over backwards to help her out.

I wanted to give her a little sneak peek before I run off to the beach with my FABULOUS girlfriends for a long weekend. Shoop!! So here is what has been seen here and there in my workshop.

Blossom and Poppy

Photobucket

This poor, neglected blog has been crying out to me. Begging for some love...just a short post, a picture, anything! It's not that I don't love her, it's just that I've been a little busy with my move and my computer situation has not been that rad.

Now, while my computer may not have been running as much as it used to, my sewing machine has been running on overdrive! My amazing friend, Mary has started up an online boutique called
Blossom and Poppy,
and will be carrying items crafted by Aqua Seventy6 - So exiting!!

I have had such a blast whipping up lots of goodies for her. It has been a very inspiring experience...and a very messy one.
Photobucket

For now I will keep the finished products a surprise until the official launch of her website at the end of the month. But just as a preview, here are some of the lovely little camera cases that will be available for purchase.

Camera Case

Lately I have been obsessed with making these camera cases. They are really fun and fairly simple to construct. They fit my trusty point and shoot perfectly and I just love all the fun fabric!

All of these were made as gifts but we will certainly be listing these little cuties on the shop...coming soon - we promise!

Sassy Owls

There is something addicting about making baby items. Maybe it is the idea of a new life bursting into the world or the way a parent feels when they see their new little one for the first time or the thought that they are so tiny and innocent and perfect. It is possibly a combination of all the above. Regardless, I like making baby and kid things the mostest.

So you can imagine how my heart skipped a beat when I found out my dear friend (and neighbor) was preggers. Oh the ideas that rushed into my head! A few days back I said to her, "I am going to have to accept that there will come a time when you look at me and say, 'it's time to stop' because I want to make everything under the sun for your precious baby!" She just threw her head back and laughed but I really don't think she understands how many plans I have for projects!

So here it the first completed Sassy Owl for her baby girl's room.
Photobucket

I loved it so much I started working on another one. Here is a sneak peek...she's only about half completed.

Photobucket

You may notice a small thing I have become obsessed with: pinwheels! Easy to make, just a tad time consuming but so freakin' cute they're worth it! Anyone interested in a pinwheel tutorial?

These owls will be available for purchase on the shop (which is soon to be launched) for $22 -$30 depending on size and style.

Weekend Round-Up: Shop and Sip Holiday Trunk Show

Lots of planning and preparation make for a fabulous show.  Our First Annual Shop and Sip Holiday Trunk Show was such a success that our venue, A Cup of Organic, asked if we would like to host another show in the near future.  Our response?  Absolutely!  But after the holidays, of course!  We definitely need a little time to rest and re-energize (not to mention CREATE!)

We were so thrilled to see the beautiful items from our friends and co-vendors Laci Jean, Lemon and Lavender, Courtney Vickers Photography, Sweet Whimsy, and Bear Booty Boutique.  We were also beyond excited to have such a great turnout.  Thanks to everyone who stopped by and shopped!

Supporting local merchants (and in the case of Shop and Sip--MOMprenuers) puts money back into your local community.  Individuals and their families directly benefit from your support and you end up with beautiful and unique items that are handmade with love ♥.

Here are some photos from the show:
