Beaded Charm Necklace

I am so lucky to have such fabulous friends.  Even though most of them are far away, they are always in my heart.  My friend MC (two initials, because I also have close friends MB, MP, and MJ) has been one of my greatest business supporters over the last year.  I'm pretty sure she owns at least one of each item I make.

One Leap Day she took advantage of my 29% off coupon and picked up a cute wristlet from my shop.  I wanted to do a little something for her as a special thank you, so I created a little beaded charm necklace with her in mind.

I love the combination of the aqua beads with the copper chain.

I was thrilled when the beautiful MC emailed to tell me that she LOVED her little gift!  I means so much to me to be able to create something special for the wonderful people in my life.

Love and Other Indoor Sports

I remember being a kid and discovering Judy Blume in my Catholic school library.  I seriously thought I was getting away with something by reading her books!  One that stands out in particular is Starring Sally J. Freedman as Herself.  In the book, Sally comes across her babysitter's love letters signed "Love and other indoor sports" and starts signing her letters the same way.  I'm pretty sure I was tempted to do the same thing, but a part of me knew there was an underlying dirty message in that signature, so I didn't even risk it.

My newest piece in my Charm Necklace collection reminds me of Sally J. Freedman.  I shall call it "Love and other indoor sports."

Faith, Hope and Love

Happy Monday!  Here's a little look at my Faith, Hope and Love Necklace.

When I was creating this piece, I had in mind all of us who are struggling to keep Faith, Hope and Love in our lives.  Many times we think that what we are going through is the hardest thing anyone has ever had to face.  Then we look to our left and look to our right and see that there are people, young and old, facing situations much more grave than we could imagine.

I hope that the sweet angel who will soon be the owner of this piece continues to keep her faith and hope and know that there are many people out there who love and are keeping her in our prayers.

I Love Lotus

This necklace will forever remind me of two amazing women. My friend, and fab client Mel and my bff for 21 years, Edith.  Both of these ladies called dibs on this beautiful Lotus Necklace just seconds after I previewed it on my Facebook page.

The Lotus Necklace is currently on back order, but become a fan on Facebook to find out when I will have more available!

A Leaf By Demand

As you probably already know, I love pendants and charms!  Last week one of my readers asked if I had a leaf charm. Why, yes!

This is an 18" necklace with a 1" leaf charm.

Birds of a Feather

I can't begin to describe how blessed I am.  As some of you may know, my move to Virginia from Florida this summer was not the easiest transition for my family. Let's just be honest.  Moving sucks.

I spent the six months prior to my move packing up the last seven years of my life. I was losing 1500 sq ft worth of living space and had to decide what to keep, what to donate and what to put in storage.  I was busy, overwhelmed and basically neglected all of my friends and family.

Fast forward to my move.  The first couple of months were super tough.  Hubs was traveling weekly and while I loved hosting family and friends (every week.  for two months.), I was still settling in and learning the ropes myself.  The summer ended, the kids started school, and 4 months passed before I was able to see family and friends again.  That's when it hit me.  I missed "home".

My trip to Florida this Christmas was wonderful.  Our cousins hosted our family of six (two dogs included) for two weeks.  My good friend and former neighbor went above and beyond to help me feel at home, as well. We planned a trunk show, which was a success.  All of my friends were so supportive of my business...I could go on forever.  In fact, I haven't even scratched the surface.

When I got back home, I knew I wanted to send my friend and my cousin little "thank you" gifts for all they did for me those two weeks.  I stumbled upon a funky bead shop in town and found the perfect charms to make them each a necklace.

Feather Necklace
This 26" necklace features a 1 3/4 " feather charm,and a matching .5" mini feather charm,
and was clearly Made With Love.

The necklaces arrived yesterday, and they both loved them.  Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

The Arts and Craftsy Owl

People often ask me what I "do". It's such a weird question to answer.  I usually just say that I own a business where I create handmade items and write for a blog that features those items (as well as some DIY, decor, and fashion stuff.)  That's usually where I lose them.  People will then ask, "What kind of handmade items?  Like arts and craftsy stuff?"  Bless their hearts...

Am I the only one who HATES the term "arts and crafts"?  It makes me feel like I'm putting together items with Elmer's Glue and construction paper.

Even so, I am crafty, and I like to think that what I do is some form of art, so I suppose "arts and crafts" isn't too far beyond what I "do".

Here is my newest work of arts and craft (warning: no fabric was cut in the creation of this piece!)

Owl Charm Fashion Necklace

I decided that as much as I love incorporating fabric into most of my pieces, there are times that I just want to wear something simple and understated.  This necklace is 18" long and features a 1" owl charm.  The perfect length for a scoop neck top or a button down blouse.

There will be more charm necklaces featured soon, so keep your eyes peeled my lovelies!
