Tampa Trunk Show and an Announcement

Happy 2012, my beautiful friends!  I am so sorry that it has taken me a whole 6 days into the new year to wish you well!  Also, I am even more sorry that it has been almost an entire month since my last post!!

What a crazy holiday season it has been!! I spent the entire month of December making items for AquaSeventy6's final trunk show of 2011, in Tampa, Florida.  After a 12 hour drive, and three days of last minute preparation, I am happy to announce that the show was a success!

It was such a pleasure to put this show together with my friend, Marcy, owner of K.a.i-y.a. Designs!

Here is the AquaSeventy6 table!
Checkbook Covers, Everything Pocuhes, Key Rings, and Headbands.
Button Pendant necklaces, Cuff Bracelets, He Loves Me Brooches and Hair Clips, Business Card/ID Holders, and more Headbands.
Ruffled Wreath, Felt Wine Bag and Clutches.
Fabric and Bead Necklaces and Scrappy Scarf Necklaces.

Here is the K.a.i-y.a. Designs table.  The Superhero tees and onesies were a BIG HIT!
Just look at these super cute headbands and reindeer tees!
I actually wanted this adorable Christmas skirt and top combo for myself!
Our hubbies took over as bartenders for the evening.
Sangria Terreo was number one on the menu!
After a long, yet productive evening, Marcy and I
were finally able to pose for a photo!
I wish I would have photographed some of our guests, but by the time Marcy and I came up for air, the crowd had dwindled down, and our tables were sparse! We were very, very blessed.  Thanks to all of you who joined us that evening!!

Finally, I wanted to take a moment to announce some changes here at AquaSeventy6:

I started this blog in 2010 in conjunction with my very good friend, Autumn, who shares my passion for second-hand, refurbished, vintage and handmade items.  Together we featured our DIY projects, tutorials and our handmade items for sale.  As of January 2012, we decided that we each had so much to share that we would divide and conquer.  I will keep you updated on Autumn's journey and link her new site as soon as its up and running.

Autumn, your contribution to our site will be greatly missed, but I can't wait to see how you transform your skill and passion into another beautiful endeavor.  Love you tons!

Trunk Show Preview

First thing this week, both Yvette and I sent out boxes of goodies for the first of our holiday trunk shows, which is coming up this weekend! By now the extravaganza of fabric items should be safely in Port St. Lucie, for all the party-going ladies to enjoy. But for the rest of you, here is a little peek and what's in store.

Roomy Shoulder Bag

This bag is so great - I actually own one myself! It has 4 deep pockets on the outside (big enough to hold a bottle of wine!) and a nice roomy inside for anything you can imagine.

Everyday Kitchen Apron

I conned my sweet mom into modeling this fun apron. I loved the fun kitchen themed print. Plus, it is so easy to clean - just toss it in the wash with everything else.

Large Make Up Bag

I love these simple zippered bags. You can fill them with (obviously) make up, snacks, sunglasses, first aid supplies...your camera, phone...whatever you like! They are perfect to toss into a *Roomy Shoulder Bag* or just grab and go on their own.

I hope that all the S Florida girls have fun shopping all the great stuff from Aqua Seventy6 and other vendors! Let the shopping season begin!

Fall To Do's

Snapbucket,Original,Vignette: Small Black,Frame: Round White,Filter: Vintage

I thought is was time to update my seasonal "to do's," especially since the official first day of fall was close to a month ago! I asked my little guys to help me with some of the things you do in the fall. Here are some of the outtakes.

Cook Hotdogs
Paint the Grass
Eat Chocolate
Pick Leaves
Race Cars

So we compromised on a few and ended up with a pretty solid list.

And because I can't resist...here is the latest purse!

My Fave Tote Bag

So as you may recall I have been going thru a major bag phase. I can't help it! I am a sucker for a good, roomy tote with plenty of pockets and lots of style.

I recently made this bag for my friend, Melissa. The bold choice of fabric totally matches her fun and joyful personality! Plus, she is the mama of two active boys, so all those pockets will be stuff with goodies.

I love mixing in different remnants of fabrics I have to make the lining interesting and pretty.
There are still a few of these bad boys to be made...Christmas gifts mainly...but I think I am starting to sew these in my dreams! Although, I often dream of sewing - which makes my dreams sweet!

Happy sewing and sweet dreams to you!

Creating with Ucreate!

Happy Labor Day!  Here at AquaSeventy6, Autumn and I have been soaking up the very last minutes with our kiddos before we send them off to school.

We are also in the process of designing a super fun challenge for our readers (and ourselves!)  More information to come later this week.

This afternoon, while browsing through the many blogs that I follow, I came across Ucreate Crafts' September "Create With Me" Project. The Tohoku Tote was originally featured on I Am Momma Hear Me Roar and sold for charity.  Now it is available for all of us to create and share.

After perusing the pattern I decided to give it a shot.  Best case scenario, I'd have something to blog about today.  Worst case, my daughter would have yet another piece for her "land of misfit purses" collection.  I am glad to say that it came out pretty great!
The main fabric is a remnant piece of home decor fabric I found at Joanns many months ago.  The lining is a lined curtain panel I bought at Goodwill last year for $2
I have to admit, I will probably remove the bow.  I don't really think I made it the right way and I can see the hand stitching which really bugs me.

I love the pockets.  I made a bigger one for my keys and a divided one for my cell phone and lip gloss.  I put the clasp on a little too high, and so it was a little hard to stitch around it.  You can see that my top stitching around the opening isn't as professional as I would like.

All in all, this bag came out pretty darn cute and is a great size!  Thanks to Ucreate for this fun group project!

3 Bags and 1 Apology

So sorry for being distant...it's not you, it's us.
Life can get busy. Blogs can get neglected.
But we're back and ready to share.

While Yvette has been busy traveling, I have been sewing my knuckles to the bone (in a good way!).

Bag Love

A good bag is like candy on Halloween - once you get a taste you can't seem to stop yourself!

Snapbucket

I made these bags for some friends and I just adore how they turned out!
This design is a variation on an old pattern. I think the silhouette is classic but the bold fabrics make it feel modern.

Snapbucket

I think I am hooked on bag making now - I already started another one last night!
