About Me

So, what is there to know about me?  My name is Yvette, but I'm not French, nor a maid (although there are days I beg to differ.)  I was born and raised in the heart of West Tampa, Florida, the daughter of Cuban exiles.

I've been married to another first generation Cuban-American since 1998 (we said our I do's 7 years and 1 day after we started 'going out'.)  We have two smart, funny, loving and considerate children. Our son was a millennium baby, and our daughter was born just two years later. There is nothing I love more than being their mother.

I've been blogging since 2006 and have written parenting columns for two local community news sources.

In the summer of 2011, our family packed our bags and said goodbye to the gulf waters, sandy beaches and the 18 holes of golf in our backyard to start a new life in Virginia. It was a challenge, but also a great adventure.

On Thanksgiving week 2012, Hubby and I decided that as much as we loved Virginia, we missed and loved our family more, so we packed a moving truck, our 2 kids, our 2 dogs and our 2 fish and headed back down to the Sunshine State.  So far, it's been a wild ride!

I started this blog in 2010 in conjunction with my very good friend, Autumn, who shares my passion for second-hand, refurbished, vintage and handmade items.  Together we featured our DIY projects, tutorials and our handmade items for sale.  As of January 2012, we decided that we each had so much to share that we would divide and conquer.  Take a peek at her new site, you are going to LOVE it!

I hope to entertain you, inspire you, and entice you with an array of colorful goodies.  Thanks for continuing to enjoy this blog.  I appreciate each and every one of you!

xoxo,
