Boho Headbands

I hope everyone had a nice long weekend!  My mother-in-law was in town, which conveniently coincided with my 14 year wedding anniversary, so Hubs and I were lucky enough to get a date night!

Technically, it was a "double-date" night.  Our closest friends here in VA have the same anniversary.  In fact, we met on our honeymoon!  This is the first time in 14 years that we have been able to celebrate our anniversary together, and it was such a fantastic evening!

I meant to share the following post last week, but we were enjoying M-I-L's visit so much, that I barely had time to step into my workspace.

I've been making these easy boho headbands for my daughter forever!

They are so simple, but so adorable--and not just for kids!

As soon as I previewed them on my Facebook page, the entire lot was scooped up!  I can't wait to get working on some new ones!

Funky Wristlets

You may have noticed the door prize that I gave away at Friday's vendor night.  Here is the story as to how it was born:

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Mel asked me to come up with a wristlet design to give as 8th grade graduation gifts.  After scouring the fabric store, I found some adorable fabric that is young and fun, but not too juvenile for soon-to-be high schoolers.  Here is what I made:

I added some turquoise piping between the fabrics, which I think gave it a nice touch!

I added a small pocket on the inside, big enough to hold a lip gloss or an ID card.  I was so excited when Mel emailed me to tell me that she loved them!

I intended to make a few of them for the vendor night, but I was only able to complete one by the time Friday rolled
around.

This became my door prize, and I was so excited to see the response it received!

If you are interested in a funky wristlet, visit my Facebook page for pricing and other details, or email me at the link on my sidebar.  These can be made in any fabric combination.

My First Virginia Vendor Night

I participated as a vendor in a local event last night.  For those of you who have ever been part of the "craft show" scene, you know these can be hit or miss.  Some shows have way too many vendors, others not enough (although I prefer the latter!)  They are time consuming, there is usually a participation cost, as well as the cost of the supplies you wouldn't normally need when selling online (shopping bags, receipt books, etc).  Because of this, I tend to stay away from traditional "craft shows", and lean more toward smaller venues or host my own trunk shows with 2 or 3 other vendors.

The good thing about EVERY show is that you meet some amazing people!  Last night I met some of the sweetest ladies since moving to Virginia!  They helped make my evening a success, even though sales were slower than I had hoped.

Here is my vendor table.  Yes, I brought way too many items!  On a brighter note, these will make up my new Etsy inventory!

Here I am waiting for the customers to arrive.  (Thank you PicMonkey!)

A close-up of some of my inventory (these were on the fly with my iPhone, so sorry they are kind of blurry!):

I was able to catch a few snapshots of some of my customers...

There was a raffle at the end of the evening, and I was so excited to see how many people added their ticket to try to win my prize! Congrats Catherine!

I had a great time last night!  Thanks to everyone who stopped by my table!

What We Wore Last Weekend

I hope all of the Moms, Grandmas, Abuelas, Tias, Aunties, Madrinas and Godmothers who read my blog had a beautiful Mother's Day!  Mine was just lovely!  I got to relax with my loves and even had some time to read a few chapters of a book that all of the ladies have been buzzing about.  SCAN. DA. LOUS.  Love it!

Last Friday, my daughter had a small carnival at school, and since she's been holed up at home with her broken leg, I decided we should stop in for a little fun.

I sported out my Sparrow Skirt by my friend Marcy at Kaiya Designs

I love how it's tiered and just to my knees, so I can wear it casually or dress it up for church.

I paired it up with one of my Fabric Cuff Bracelets

LOVE!

My little mama rocked out a Ribbon Belt and some big shades.  Did you notice her haircut??

She was so excited that a high school girl working the carnival complimented her belt!  (So was I!)  :)

Vinyl Lined "Wet Bags"

Hi!  Remember me?  Sorry I've been such a slacker here on the blog!  I am going to be a vendor at a local Ladies Night event a week from today and I've been so busy creating inventory.

I was trying to be creative and come up with a new item that I thought would be popular among the local families who are super into swim team and hanging out at the pool.  What was born was the Wet Bag.

These 9" x 12" zippered pouches are lined in vinyl and are perfect for storing damp swimsuits on the way home from the pool or beach!  They can also be used for wet accidents during potty training and keeping wet or sticky bibs or burp cloths contained in your diaper bag. Just wipe down the inside and let them air dry!

I love that they are soft and pliable. They easily roll up to fit in a beach bag, diaper bag, your child's backpack, sports bag or your purse.

I knew that they would be a hit as soon as I made the first one, BUT I didn't realize how popular they would become as baby shower gifts.  Just after posting the preview on my Facebook page, I got three orders for Wet Bags for babies!

My favorite feedback so far has been, "These will be my go-to baby shower gift from now on!"  Yay!!!

What I Wore Wednesday {Made by Me}

Yesterday was a big day in our household!  My son got his braces!  I can't tell you how long we he has been waiting for this day.

Because it was such a special occasion, I wanted to get out of my uniform (jeans and a tee shirt) and sport a cute skirt I made a couple of weeks ago.

I loved this fabric from the moment I laid eyes on it.  Its combination of aqua, tangerine, khaki and brown is my summer palette.

I decided on a skirt with pockets, because EVERY dress and skirt should have pockets.  I'm pretty proud at how great they came out, considering this was my very first attempt.

I paired the skirt with my favorite aqua sandals and a long version of my turquoise and coral necklace. Love...

My second favorite thing about this skirt (pockets being the first!) is the length.

BTW, the total cost of this simple skirt was about $6 and it took me about an hour!  You can't beat that, right?!  Is anyone else on a DIY wardrobe kick?  I know my friend Autumn is!

Well, I can't end this post without sharing a photo of my big guy showing off his new metal mouth!  Love it!

Teacher Appreciation Week {Fabric Lanyard}

I made this fabric lanyard months ago and it traveled all the way with me to Rome where I gave it to my cousin who met us for a "business vacation".

I hadn't gotten around to making any more until another one of my cousins asked for a couple to give to her daughter's teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week.  OF COURSE!  What a great idea!  Being a former teacher herself, she knew that these would make fun AND useful gifts!

She chose the same fabric from my previous lanyard, and wanted them both identical.

The lanyards feature a swivel clasp.

They can be made in any length and any fabric.

I still haven't made one for myself, but now that I've been inspired....  :)
